Summer To Do List
Plan:
Think of several new projects for summer**
Organize used seed packets
Shop for new flowers and ideas
Plan your fall garden
Sow:
Move indoor seedlings outside
Remove spent flowers
Plant herbs
Cut existing herbs back
Cut back fall bloomers such as Chrysanthemums
Plant warm season crops
Plant summer annuals
Divide and replant perennials
Protect:
Fertilize house plants once a month
Compost flower bed once a month
Mulch unprotected areas
Feed outdoor plants, citrus plants and roses
Water outdoor plants deeply and less frequently
Water potted plants almost every day in extreme temperatures
Stake or add supports to tall plants, vines and vegetables
Cut back plants to encourage growth
Cover fruit trees and vines with plastic netting
Apply organic fungicides, pesticides and insecticidal soap
Clean up dead branches and debris
Store unused seeds in cool dry location for next year
